The Rajagiri Institutions are managed by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) congregation, the first indigenous religious congregation for men in India. Canonically established in the year 1855, the CMI order has played a key role in revolutionizing the education scenario in Kerala in the late nineteenth century. Visionary reformer and religious leader of the 19th century – St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, founded the congregation of CMI (Carmelites of Mary Immaculate) fathers. Education is the charisma of the CMI congregation and its members have been well trained and specialized in teaching at all levels of education from its very inception. The tireless efforts of the CMI have been instrumental in establishing educational institutions of high quality across the country and abroad. At present, the CMIs manage a network of more than 800 Schools, 1 University, 13 Special Schools, 41 Arts, Science, Commerce & Physical Education Colleges, 10 B.Ed.
